When I first started my photography blog last year I asked my parent's neighbors if I could take some pictures of their daughter. They happily agreed. She was the first one to grace my blog and I am happy to say she is back, older (of course) and cuter than ever. There are a few locations I have been wanting to use but the weather just hasn't been cooperative. This time we beat the weather and managed to get some awesome shots of Sammi. Her mom wanted to dress her up as a cowgirl and that fit perfectly with the outdoor look I was going for. It all came together and we had a great time laughing and playing in the field. Can't wait to show them off, that is why there are so many in the post. I just couldn't narrow them down to a few, sorry about that. This is what makes it so special for me!!! Sharon & Stephen's Engagement Session
Sharon's mother contacted me about possibly shooting Sharon's wedding in February. I suggested an entire package including engagement and a bridal portrait and they agreed. So, here is the first set of photos from the engagement shoot. We shot at several locations out in the country and finished up on an overpass off of 264. A lot of honking onlookers came by during the shoot. We finished with a few wheelies...pretty unusual for an engagement session. I hope you love the photos, I know Stephen will love the last one. Baby Madison
You probably remember Stephanie from last month. She wanted maternity shots and she said we might better get on with it if we were going to do them before the baby came, so we did. Well, she was right! Baby Madison is now here...say hello everyone!!! She is only one week old when we took these photos but there's more to come. We are waiting for the weather to turn around so we can take the baby outside for a shoot...I have the perfect spot! Click on the picture for a larger view.

New Year...New Free Photo Contest Giveway!!!
To celebrate the new year, I would like to start off with a free photoshoot. I sent out a request to all of you to become a fan of Eric Jones Photography on Facebook last week. This is how it works for the free photo shoot: send out a fan invitation to your friends on Facebook. Once they become a fan of Eric Jones Photography on Facebook they will send me an email (they need to go to www.ericjonesphotography.net and send the email from the contact us page, since you can't send the email from Facebook) with your name as the subject line with Free Photoshoot. If you send out the fan request to 50 friends for an example and 10 of your friends become fans, they each send me an email with your name. If I pick your friend they receive the free photo shoot and the person that sent them the fan request will also receive a free photo shoot. So I'm giving away two free photoshoots.
For example, if John Smith sends a fan request to Lisa to become a fan of Eric Jones Photography and Lisa goes to my Facebook page and becomes a fan, she would then send me a email from my website ericjonesphotography.net with "John Smith-Free Photoshoot" as the subject. If Lisa is chosen as the winner then she and John Smith both receive a free photo shoot. You have until the end of January to send out the fan request. I will pick a winner on Feb. 1st. and post that to my Facebook and my blog. In order to win and to be fair we will check to make sure that person is a true fan.
If you have already sent a fan request to your friends, it's ok. Just send them another email about the free photo shoot and let them know they need to send me an email with your name. If you have any questions first then please send me an email at ericj2@suddenlink.net.
The winners will have until the end of 2010 to use the free photo shoot. It can be used in any way, such as portraits of family, children, babies...how ever you choose. If you win, you could pass on the free photoshoot to someone else. So start sending out the fan requests and good luck!

Landscape Water Photos
I had a day off this past week so I decided to do something I haven't done in a while-shoot some landscapes. I wanted to start with Washington, then Bath and finally Lake Mattamuskeet-but what I didn't want was all that fog. That's the problem with landscapes: you take what you get. Once I got down to Washington and Bath I realized the fog might be an asset (this kind of fog doesn't happen very often). Due to the fog I was able to get a few nice shots of the boats. By the time I got to Lake Mattamuskeet it was so foggy you couldn't even see the sides of the lake. I still managed to get a few interesting shots of the small trees out in the water. I worked with the color to make the scenes a little more pleasant to the eyes. I've always enjoyed going out by myself and just riding till I find something really interesting to photograph but landscapes still don't take the place of photographing families and kids. They'll talk to you. Landscapes don't say a word.
